This special trip is for those who wish to see the giant and rare Rafflesia flower up close. Apart from Borneo and Sumatra, Cameron Highlands is among the few places where it grows. There is no fixed season for blooming, and each flower lasts about six days, so timing is key.
The Rafflesia takes around six to nine months to develop from a bud. Most flowers have five petals, sometimes six, and they often open at night. It takes one to two days for the petals to fully unfold. The best time to see it is within the first three days, when the flower is still fresh and bright. By the fourth day, it starts to darken and lose its charm. Harsh weather and strong sunlight can cause it to wither faster.
Besides seeing the flower, this trip includes a visit to an Orang Asli village. You can watch how they use a blowpipe for hunting and learn about their traditions. The trek to the flower site takes about two to three hours through the rainforest, giving you a real jungle experience.
