Overview

Bilit Rainforest Lodge sits on the Lower Kinabatangan River, two hours from Sandakan. The lodge is built on stilts using local hardwood, blending into nature. Guests enjoy a peaceful setting with a boardwalk linking jetty, restaurant, and chalets. It offers comfort and serves as a base to explore rich plant and animal life.

The area is rich in birdlife, including hornbills, kingfishers, and eagles. You may also see Bornean pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, and sun bears.

The lodge has 24 chalets with air-conditioning and private bathrooms. Facilities include a riverside restaurant with a bar, family lounge, garden, and gift shop. Internet and WiFi are available at the restaurant. Activities include guided jungle trekking, river cruises, fishing, and lodge programs.

Sepilok Nature Resort is hidden among lush plants and blooming orchids. It is near the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, home to wild orangutans. The resort combines traditional style with modern comfort, ideal before exploring Kinabatangan or diving trips.

There are 23 chalets surrounded by tropical gardens and orchids. Rooms have ceiling fans, air-conditioning, private balconies, and en-suite bathrooms. Guests enjoy a peaceful view of the lake and rainforest canopy.

Facilities include a main building with a front office, tour desk, and restaurant. The resort is near the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and Sepilok Forest Reserve. Staff can arrange birding, trekking, and river trips to nearby areas.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

Kota Kinabalu

  • After 1200 Arrive at Kota Kinabalu Airport and transfer to hotel
  • Afternoon Free time to rest and settle in comfortably
  • Evening Meet representative and attend short tour briefing session
Day 2 :

Borneo Reef World Adventure

  • 0830 Pick up from hotel and transfer to jetty
  • Take speed boat to Borneo Reef World activity pontoon
  • Enjoy light refreshments on arrival at the pontoon
  • Snorkel or try sea walk and other water activities
  • Optional activities include scuba dive kayak banana boat or jet ski
  • Tour underwater observatory to see corals and marine life
  • Lunch Buffet seafood meal served with hot dishes and fruits
  • After lunch Visit Sapi Island for beach and forest trail
  • Optional snorkel from shore or relax under the sun
  • Afternoon Return boat transfer to Kota Kinabalu hotel
Day 3 :

Kudat and Rungus Longhouse

  • Morning Check out from hotel and depart for Kudat town
  • Visit Northern Tip of Borneo at Tanjung Simpang Mengayau
  • Walk on white sandy beach and see rocky outcrops
  • Proceed to Bavanggazo Village for Rungus longhouse visit

Day 4 :

Nabalu Market and Kinabalu Park

Day 5 :

Mount Kinabalu Ascent to Panalaban

  • Morning Depart to Kinabalu Park Headquarters for registration
  • Complete guide assignment and ID tag registration with guide help
  • Transfer to Timpohon Gate starting point for mountain climb
  • Trek 6 kilometers up to Panalaban Base Camp accommodation
  • View changing forest landscape and spot orchids and pitcher plants
  • Evening Dinner buffet at Laban Rata restaurant and early rest
Day 6 :

Summit and Descent to Kundasang

  • 0200 Early morning light meal before summit climb starts
  • Continue trek to Low's Peak to catch sunrise above clouds
  • Morning Return to Panalaban Base Camp for breakfast and check out
  • Descend to Timpohon Gate taking around three to five hours
  • Afternoon Transfer to Kundasang and check in to accommodation
Day 7 :

Poring Hot Spring and Canopy Walk

  • Morning Depart from Kundasang to Poring Hot Spring area
  • Soak in sulfur-rich natural hot spring pools for relaxation
  • Hike thirty minutes to reach treetop canopy walkway
  • Walk canopy bridge 43 meters high and 157 meters long
  • Afternoon Depart for Sandakan and transfer to city hotel
Day 8 :

Gomantong Cave and Kinabatangan River

  • Morning Visit Gomantong Cave and explore bat and swiftlet chambers
  • Afternoon Boat transfer to Sukau Bilit Rainforest Lodge and check in
  • Evening Join river cruise to spot monkeys orangutans and elephants
Day 9 :

Oxbow Lake or Jungle Trek

  • 0600 Wake up to calls of gibbons and hornbills nearby
  • Early morning Cruise on Oxbow Lake for bird and wildlife watching
  • Late morning Return to lodge for lunch and free leisure time
  • Evening More wildlife spotting along Sukau Kinabatangan River bank

 

Day 10 :

Sepilok and Sandakan Departure

  • Morning Visit Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and watch documentary
  • 1000 Walk to feeding platform to observe orangutan feeding session
  • Midday Option for Sandakan city tour or direct airport transfer
  • Afternoon Depart from Sandakan or extend tour as preferred
  • Optional Extend to Lankayan Semporna Danum Valley or Tabin Reserve
