A via ferrata means iron road in Italian. It is a protected mountain path fixed with rungs rails cables and small bridges along a rock face. It lets people reach scenic parts of the mountain that usually only climbers and mountaineers can access.
This activity offers a mix of adventure and beautiful views. You will feel a strong sense of achievement when you finish each section and look at the wide mountain scenery around you. Many people remember this experience for a long time because it gives both excitement and a personal challenge.
Today there are more than three hundred via ferrata routes around the world. Most of them are in Italy Germany France Austria Slovenia Switzerland and Spain. Some are also found in the United States and Canada.
The highest via ferrata in the world is on Mount Kinabalu in Malaysian Borneo. This route is called Mountain Torq and it is also the first via ferrata in Asia. It gives you a rare chance to enjoy high mountain views in a safe and guided way even if you are not an expert climber.
