Bako National Park, though small, is full of natural beauty and life. Located in southeast Sarawak, this 2,727-hectare forest holds all major Borneo vegetation types. Just an hour’s drive from Kuching, followed by a boat ride, Bako promises adventure even before you arrive.
The park has seven ecosystems, each rich with plants and animals. Trails lead to hidden beaches, steep cliffs, and sweeping sea views. Visitors can explore mangroves, waterfalls, peat swamps, and dipterocarp forests.
Wildlife is another highlight of Bako National Park. Around 275 proboscis monkeys can be seen swinging or resting nearby. Bearded wild boars roam freely and often ignore visitors. Silver leaf monkeys are shy and sometimes surprising if startled.
Other animals include flying squirrels, otters, macaques, and many bird species. With its dramatic scenery and rich wildlife, Bako offers a true taste of Borneo’s wild charm.
